I am in the process of rebulding my 352 and I am going to share some pics along the way, my finances are limited so it will be a slow process. what sort of cam should I get? this is my everyday driver but i want a nice lope out of it, 3/4 race cam or something more mild? also what sort of book can i find that gives torque specs for all my bolts. Where can i find pistons for it and whats size pistons and connecting rod bearings do i need?
For a DD, I'd go with a basic RV cam as you want great torque off idle and really wont be doing much driving above 4700 rpm one would think.

Melling MTF4 is what I put in my 66 and I'm plenty happy with the thing. Nice rumble, great smooth idle, and it really pulls nice all the way through the band. Pulls the hardest between 2300-3200 in my setup.
There is neg input to be found on the web about the cam, but it's from bench racing with a DD application.
You can have cool sound or good driving habits...pick one
there is a retainer plate that holds the cam in, the 2bolts holding the retainer plate look like they require a veryyyy large philips driver and they are super tight, how do i remove them?
im also not sure if i should even fool with new pistons because i have great compression and no issues. i think im just going to put new head gaskets and new intake manifold gasket and a cam. are there alot of things that will need to be set differently with a different cam?
impact driver, clean holes and threads use loctite when reinstalling. Pay attention to the oiling slot orientation. It's very possible the new cam/timing set will not use the C shaped spacer. This is built into the timing set, if used on a new set it will push the cam back mis aligning the lifter/lobe faces.
Where is the oiling slot located? and is this something i need to worry about if im not using the stock timing set? I purchased a new one when i go the truck.
I actually wont be working on this for a little while now, I took the cam retaining plate bolts out using vice grips but i had them so tight that i had to squeeze them so hard that i fractured my wrist some how
