Temp Gauge

I have a 94 Ranger 2.3L 4CYL, My temp gauge (on the dash) shows that I am running cold, sometimes just barely warm. When I test the ECT Sensor cold is approx~40,000 Ohms and Warm is approx~3,000 Ohms...exactly as Haynes says it should be. Is this just a screwy gauge or is there another culprit. I know in the winter (Michigan) it takes forever to heat up and even though it heats up fast in the summer it still runs (according to gauge) cold. The fan clutch and thermostat is new last winter, and it didn't change anything.

Anyone have any suggestions?

My Ranger runs cold also. When the gages where working. The whole electric system seems messed up. All the gages stopped working over the weekend and when I checked the fuse box the fuse for the gages was missing. I just got the truck about three weeks ago and it worked then.

Welcome to FTE!!!

Do you get good heat in a resonable amount of time, if not I would change the termostat, the gauges are not that accurate.

In the winter, I can let the truck idle for almost an hour before the windows defrost, and during driving, it barely leaves the "C" on the gauge. And that is with the Radiator blocked with plywood! In the summer it heats up okay, but its 50 degrees wamer (ambient temp) out.

Oh well, if nobody knows I guess I can live with it!
