Saturday my truck just developed a new issue. I took it out to home depot for some pine needles and some other things it ran fine and started on first try each time. Now continue on to when I start backing out to head up the road to go through a neighbor's lot he said I could take whatever i want from the stuff he leaves. As I get out of the driveway and get ready to turn up the street and the truck just dies, I didn't stall it out or anything. I try to start it up before I block people trying to get through and it sounds like the starter tries and then just completely stutters out and locks up. I head to the junk yard for some other parts and when I get back it almost starts then it sounds like it locked up or something but noise is also coming from the solenoid it seems.
My friend's brother has basically the same truck as me just different tires and color and has had the same issue and it just happened out of nowhere to him as well. I have one guess as to what caused it for me, I have the exhaust pipe disconnected from the manifold and the truck runs super rich(was going to the JY for DSII swap parts) and it coated it black from exhaust could this be it? and if I give it a quick clean would it possibly resolve my problem or would I need to replace the starter or solenoid?
Jd , have seen where you go to jump another vehicle off and the connections are good enough ( cables)i would try again, let it charge for a bit, and also your own battery connections may need cleaning.TR
Then you have a bad or loose battery cable. When you are trying to jump it with another vehicle, look for smoke around the cables. You can also carefully feel them and see if there are any hot spots.
All that clicking and buzzing is coming from the solenoid because the voltage is low, and it can't hold itself engaged.

That's true also, most people have dinky jumper cables and they are not big enough to jump off a vehicle with a really dead battery. So letting it sit and charge off the other vehicle for a little bit might help it take off.
Or just take the battery out of the other vehicle and put it in the dead vehicle.
Just went out and used a jumper box after cleaning connections and tightening everything down. Still got the same thing and then I took our battery out of our project B2 and it was worse. It just seems so random for running and driving for months and all day.
Turn the headlights on. Do they light up bright? If so, try to start it while watching the headlights. If they go completely out, you still have a connection problem. Take the jumper cables you have, and with the new good battery still in the truck, take the jumper cables and hook one end to the battery negative, and hook the other end to a good metal spot on the engine somewhere. See what happens then. If that works, your ground wire is bad somewhere.
