ZF6 leaking

ZF6 leaking
Working on a 99 F350 4x4. It is leaking fluid where the shifter goes in the top. It looks like it is coming from the shifter itself, not the gasket around the plate where you would unbolt it to remove the shifter. Any ideas on how to fix this?
You can see that the boot is torn, but I think it is just to keep the dirt out.
