have a problem with the truck turning off after starting and running for about 2 mins.have replaced both fuel pumps in the tanks, replaced the high presser pump on frame rail also fuel regulator, fuel filter, pump relay, and the module on the distributor and coil .I'm out of ideas what it might be.when it turns off does not act like its loosing gas just shuts off as if i turned the key off.has me very puzzled.its like something telling the computer to shut it off.does anyone know what i could try next.the ignition key swith is also new any help would be great as im spending alot of money on this truck
It's the PIP inside the distributor. You need to remove and disassemble the distributor to replace this. Just go to Oreillys and get a NEW distributor and install it. Don't get a REBUILT distributor, most of them are junk.
If u turn the key to off and then start yes but when it turns off and key is at on position and then try to start it will not. Key has to be turned to off then restarted
Is there a way to bypass the switch and jump the starter to see if that's the problem anyways
You could run a wire from the positive post of the battery to the correct small wire that hooks onto the coil. To find the correct small wire unplug that connector with the two small wires from the coil. Turn the ignition switch on and the wire that has juice to it would be the correct wire.
You're not having any problems with the starter are you?
Are you sure you jumped the correct wire? During that two minutes before it shuts off, can you shut the ignition switch off and the engine continue to run?
