starter coming off flex plate?

in my continuing wont-start-if-not-plugged-in-in-the-morning saga my starter is coming off the flex plate on these long cranks (sometimes not catching at all).... is this the starter itself going bad?

i tried to feel for any slack by hand quick, felt tight.. didn't get to put a socket on the bolts, I'll give it a try tmw.

just a follow up, bolts were in fact tight, but a new starter did fix the problem

Glad she's running! We've had a few posts recently of the starter coming loose and breaking bolts. Did you see the thread about the NAPA starters? Sounds like they are building a good one for the 6.0.
