Sorry for the confusion, and thaks you for the pictures. It appears to be coming from where the center section bolts to the exhaust housing. So if im reading right there is no gasket there, but likely the bolts have just worked loose?

Yeah, most likely one or more of the bolts that hold the exhaust housing to the center section have come out. There is no gasket or seal in there.
Thanks for the help....now I just need some nicer weather so I can tear into it......it's having a hard time warming up here, and I don't like being cold anymore!

Reason: double post
Take a look at that photo of the center cartridge I posted. See where all the soot and coked oil is? That is a failed/failing oil seal on the turbine shaft. If your bolts are not loose, this could very well be your problem (as it was mine). Time for a rebuild.
Dieselorings has the kits for about $100. Not difficult at all...hard part is removal and replacement on the truck!
Bob at dieselorings.com sells the complete turbo rebuild kit for $100 or so. He is great and the kit is great. Shipping is lightening fast from him. I don't think you can just order the little oil seal.

Or completely fallen out. When I bought my wife's truck, ALL 4 bolts had worked themselves completely out. I found two in the center section but the other two had vanished. Amazing it stayed together at all...
I yanked the turbo, replace the bolts and it's been good ever since.
That's what I found on the last one I rebuilt. 2 bolts were in the valley just under the turbo and the other 2 were still trapped in the center section by the back plate. There was soot EVERYWHERE.
Hmmmmm.....may have to look a little closer at those bolts. I hate to buy parts I dont' really need, but if I'm going to have it out anyhow, I might as well have the rebuild kit just in case. The shaft doesn't have any noticeable play in and out, or side to side, but I just bought the truck and who know's if the turbo has ever been touched!
