White Smoke; just for a second on accel, video included

I searched quite a bit, but I didn't see the answer to this specific situation;

- Cold truck, Scangauge shows <150degree EOT
- White smoke on accel from stop lights
- Low power until white smoke goes away
- After that, all seems fine
- Doesn't happen much after ~180degree EOT

Here is a video:

Have you tried cleaning the EGR valve?

Some more info:

- No codes
- No loss of power except on that initial startup when I hit the gas from a stop. Hitting the gas while driving seems ok.
- Not loosing lots of coolant, I have been slowly loosing coolant for a couple years, very very little.

You video didn't work for me But have you kept an eye on you engine oil level? Any oil coming out of your tail pipe? Pull the exhaust down tube off the exhaust outport of the turbo and look for oil swirls and baked on oil. If so, your turbo oil seal is leaking..

No oil from tailpipe. Oil level is good.

I will do the exhaust downpipe as my next step.

Looks like the same symptoms of a weak turbo seal to me.

Lots of caked up carbon crud in there. All dry, no coolant that I could tell. I carefully removed as much as I could and cleaned the EGR until it looked pretty darn good. Cleaned up the seals on the EGR and the chamber. Reinstalled. No change in any way.

I am thinking of taking the truck to a shop recommended by trusted folks close to me. They are called Left Coast Diesel. So far they seem cool.

They have done a ton of 6.0 head stud projects, and have a 'package' they do to R&R these trucks. I am thinking of just doing the whole shebang now. Just have them replace the head studs, gaskets, bulletproof EGR, blue spring, turbo seals/R&R, etc.

One reason for this is I am moving to TX from CA (excited to leave), but I am taking the whole family and driving to TX and towing while I do. I don't want to be stranded. I figure I will have the trusted shop just fix the 6.0 for good and be done with it. It's expensive, but it was inevitable.

Truck has 131 so no warranty.

Crazy am I?

Ended up getting the entire motor torn down and rebuilt. The guys at Left Coast see at least a 6.0 a week! Got bulletproof diesel EGR and new oil cooler, new ARP head studs, etc. this was about a year ago now, and she is still running strong! Expensive but worth it.

The only thing I haven't done is a coolant filter.
