LOL, I have had a set of those in my garage, trying to figure out how to put them on any of my trucks I've had over the last 20 yrs. I finally gave them to my son, I think he's going to use them for garage art.
That is total 70's! In the spirit of the "Back Off" message there's a guy in this area that has a mid-50's F250. He's got a message on the tailgate that says something to the effect of "Back Off - My truck only goes 45 mph". It actually lists his gear ratio. I'll see if I can get a pic of it.
....and I need to find that old box of 8 track tapes.
They probably won't work anymore because Its harder and harder to find book matches. How in the world are you suppose to wedge up the 8 track tape if you don't have any books of matches laying around?
I remember when the bumper sticker craze hit. They even had kits to make your own. Everytime we'd go to "Reptile World" or some crazy place like that on vacation they'd slap a bumper sticker on in the parking lot while you were gone. If you didn't try to take it off right away you'd be scraping after you got home.
I almost put a set of those flaps on my 50 that I built in high school. But I had a little softer and more comical side and went with the ones with Tweety Bird sticking out his big foot with the phrase "Keep on Twuckin"
I've been searching the swapmeets for 70's stuff and had forgotten about the " Keep on trucking" sign. I'm actually looking for the " ***, grass or..." sign. I picked up a '79 shorty GMC van and looking to be 21 again. This was my first new vehicle. ( Actually a 1979 chev van but this is close enough. ) Any more good stuff that I should be looking for ? Getting closer to finishing the '49 M-47 Mercury truck so need to hunt parts for the next project. Greg M-47
Don't come knockin' if the van is rockin'! yellow diamond suction cup window sign, over the windshield console (with CB radio), motor box cover topper with drink holders.
