Hello people.. I am in need af a new exhaust system for my 2000 f350 with the 7.3. The system is a straight pipe no cat.. I am looking at relocating back to either Arizona or Ca and I know that I am going to need a cat and muffler.. Need one that doesn't kill me torque and can still pass the inspections.. Thanks for the help guys...
the 99-03 7.3 diesel is a non cat diesel so your good there. And your gonna need a muffler to pass inspection, here are a few for you ( Xtreme Diesel Performance - XDP Diesel Power Performance Parts - Mufflers & Resonators ) buy athe cheapest one that fits whatever size pipe you have, go through inspection and then go home and put the straight pipe back on
on my dads 2000 7.3 he bought a full 4" MBRP exhaust and at the same time he back the muffler delete pipe. Whenever he goes to inspection here in NJ i just unbolt the clamps slid the delete pipe out and put the MBRP muffler in, he goes to the inspection station and they look under the truck see the muffler and pass him. He goes home and we swap it out takes about ten minutes
You don't need a muffler to pass Smog inspections, it is not part of the "emissions" system, I have 3 - 7.3's no muffler, all pass smog. Lift your hood, look up by the latch, to the left I think, it should have a sticker, says NON-Catalyst, or Catalyst, A lot of the 7.3's had them, and a lot didn't go figure,,, I just bought my 02 F350/DRW/4x4/CC/7.3 in AZ drove it in, no cat, 4" straight-pipe smogged it, good to go,,,
So in other words, don't make more work for yourself, don't add what you don't need to! Do some lookin first! I think you can also look it up by VIN to see if it had one.
