OK, I found the problem I think. I took the #6 and #7 plugs out that were coded misfire. I cleaned them, the boot and blew out the plug well really good and re installed them. I noticed the six wire was laying on the seven wire,. It had come out of the clip channel and I fixed this. Test drove it up and down city streets and freeway. It runs really good now! Great!
I also pressure tested the cooling system to 16 pounds pressure and it did not waiver or lose any pressure. I choose 16 Pounds because that what it says on the overflow reservoir cap. I could not find any leaks and Checked #5 plug well. It was also clean.
Question: Can I start the engine under 16 pounds pressure? Can or should I increase pressure to 20 pounds?
If your reservoir cap calls for 16 PSI I'd stay with that----no real benefit raising it. OTOH raising it could produce issues within the cooling system---keep it as it was designed and you'll have fewer or no problems.
Assuming your cap will vent if its limits are reached starting the engine while the cooling system is "pre-charged" shouldn't hurt anything. Consider the engine already being at operating temp and shutting down to fuel up---with heat soak the cooling system would be close to the max PSI yet there's no real problem restarting a few minutes after shutting down.
Frozen Joker if you ever do run across a possible cause for the #5 plug to be coolant soaked it'd be great knowing what you did find. I can see how 1-4 (or 5 on V10) could have coolant in the plug holes but not the left side bank.
OK, did a pressure check of the coolant system again. Did it cold, warm and while engine running and no leaks. Van is running good with no problems. Nothing leaking. I guess I will just have to watch the fluid level. I suspect an upper manifold gasket. By the way it's a 1998 e150 4.6 and does not have coil over plug!
