Howdy Folks;
have an '86 Bronco II with a 2.9L.
The tail lights, brake lights, rear turn signals, and license plate lights have stopped working. Here is a litle history on the problem.
The right turn signal went out, but the left still worked. Then the right brake light went and nothing would light up on the right side. Around this time I have to make a cross country drive, the mechanic where I used to work used a short length of wire to connect the left side brake light, and tail light power to the right side bulb socket so it would light for the trip.
At some point during the trip everything went out except for the reverse lights. I want to get everything working again, the way its supposed to, but I cant find the problem.
All fuses are ok, and the bulbs are good. I've been following the power schematics from my repair book, and so far I've replaced the sockets, The combo switch in the steering collum, and the main light switch.
Could be, I'll check that out when I get home. Would any of you know if its a chassy ground, or would it head back up front to the combo switch?
Basically, could I just cut the ground and connect it to the chassy in the back, or should I trace it back to where it ends and check it there?
