6 volt alternator:
6 volt alternator:
I am thinking about changing my 1952 F-1 sock 239 over to a 6 volt alternator.Where is the best place to get a kit to do this with a good price to go with it?Anybody been here and done this?
I got my 12v kit from these guys: ..:: Certified Auto Electric - Products ::.. The link is to an alternator you can buy as either 6 or 12v.
Keep in mind there are still upgrades needed to use a higher-output alternator even at 6 volts, and if you go 1-wire there are some wiring modifications. Not bad, tho. I'd check their eBay auctions for complete kits (slingshot and alternator) although you can modify a GM alternator to use the stock generator mount.
