Thanks for posting the update! Tuner advocates like to insist that in stock configuration they won't last long, but this demonstrates that this isn't necessarily the case.

Failed rocker arms have been a recurring problem in the 6.4s. I don't remember if the truck in question is stock but my theory is that the rockers fail because they are at the end of the oil lubrication stream and the diluted oil just don't quite keep them sufficiently lubricated. I agree 280,000 miles is pretty good, but still there is no reason the rockers should fail at that mileage. Besides, if my memory serves some of the other rocker arm failures were at 120,000 or so.

I saw a f450 cube truck with huge mileage, and it was 100% stock and still ran great.
I think the problems start when someone uses the 6.4 for soccer mom chores.
