hello once again my good friends at the ranch. Lower ball joints is my question on this time for my 91 exp. I got somone to repress the bearings for this tasking as i know that this is a part of the process...with this in mind is this a task worth undrertaking or should i take this to a shop $$$$$. I have all the necessary tools for this. Thanks guys.
Hi,
I am not sure if there is much difference between your exp and mine '95 exp but I did mine last weekend for the second time in 14 months period. All you got to do is go to Autozone and rent bolljoint press and a balljoint removing tool. Plan on a 5 to 6 hours work since this is your first time. Start by removing brake caliper, rotor, (mine is a 4x4 so I had to unscrew each front axle)
tie rod, upper balljoint screw (screw has to come out to release) and the lower balljoint screw (here you might have to use the balljoint tool to separate). At this point use the press to push the ball joint out. Putting everything back on is just the opposite.
This will save you $500 to $600. It did for me. Good luck
