Hello very body I need to ask some thing.
My truck needs a new timing chain. And the guys at the autoZone say I need to get one of the Edelbock timing sets that are just 4 gears and no chain accu-drive or some thing like that. he said give me more Hp and all that good stuff. is this true will it do any thing at all, or is he just trying to get a big fat sell out of me?
Oh sorry I have a 79 -150 with a 302 4v. Thank you all for you help =)
He's just trying to make a quick $$ by selling you a gear drive. Get a double roller timing chain, it'll last just as well in a daily driver and you won't have any annoying gear whine. And you'll save quite a few $$ too.
Unless you do a lot of towing, or race.. It is pointles, he is just trying to make $$, they are spendy, also they are loud (I think they sound cool) but some people dont like the noise. Just go with what loudfords said and you will be set, just dont go cheap on a timing chain..... Buy a good grade.
Thank you guy's so much.. but what is a good brand to go with? just the autoZone one or withh is break after about a year or maybe a Edelbrock chain? i've never done this befor so I dont really know
Cloyes is a pretty popular brand at a decent price. Otherwise you could get a stock replacement for a 5.0 HO motor, they're pretty decent. I have an 88 351W with the original double roller timing chain and over 200k on it without a lot of play.
P.S. I am geting frusterated with this reply box at the bottom of the page. I keep forgeting about it and clicking (Post Reply)... It is nice to have tho... Keep up the sweet upgrades!
