So the truck used to be a 2WD dually? That front GAWR is meaningless, then. I would go by the GAWR of an F350 4x4 of your vintage. 'Course, such a truck would also be rated for Load Range E tires, and yours is rated for Ds. What range tires are you running?

I think he is saying that by his calculations he is 400 lbs over weight on the front axle.

Exactly. With a flatbed I'm "supposed to" pull into weigh stations. So if I run into some a-hole for a highway patrol. $$$$. I'll be helping california get better roads.

I'd be tempted to get a real clean digital pic of that door jamb sticker, doctor it up with the REAL GAWR capacity, scale it just right and re-print it and stick it on with some shiny clear tape right over the existing one.

I wouldn't worry about the weight hurting the truck. By adding the 4x4 you have a heavier duty axle under the front there as well. These rear ends can take a lot too, so I wouldn't worry about that. Johnny Law, though..... that's another issue. I don't know how you get around that issue. We don't have to worry too much about that around here.

BTW, it looks like Todd was the closest.
Yeah but in price is right terms I was over lol. I kinda cheated cause we scale the bosses IDI cab and chassis 4x4 dump at about 8700. My CCLB scaled is roughly 7800. 9250 was my best guess combining the 2.

Sounds kinda evil… I like it!! Sooo what's the GAWR of a Dana 60. I looked a little bit but didn't find any set in stone number.

My front gawr is 4600 lbs on the F350.

For information sake my truck with no fuel minus spare, tailgate, and tools weighed 6880. In cali our registration is calculated by weight, so I wanted to get it under 7000 lbs .

Splatts, I know of a lot of rigs running around up here over weight. Normally the CHP isnt too bad about being the weight police, but you're a lot farther south than I am.

Where are you planning on moving to?

Waiting to hear back from a couple jobs in the homeland of Washington. I haven't been caught yet by passing the scales but the law says something to the effects of. Pickups with an altered bed are required to stop at the scales. I might just be paranoid but I don't want any hang ups when it comes time ya know what I mean.

Ya. I looked that law up a few months back. Read it the same way but looking around online it doesnt look like it's enforced that way. Both of my grandpas have always had flatbeds and probably driven a combined 1 million miles down I5 with them. Never once pulled into a weigh station.

You can try to do what i did, In PA you can go to a fast tag place and get a form to adjust your gvwr, My 95 f-350 dump truck was 11k which i didnt like since cops around here weigh alot of trucks and at 11k i was always over weight. I went to https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenan...ls/default.asp
I put my vin in and said i was in a range of 10,000 to 14,000 pounds. So on the form i wrote to adjust it to 14k. I had to print that paper out and take the form to my inspection guy and he signed off on it. Turned it into dmv and got truck approved to haul 14k. So i scrapped off the vin tag on the door and keep a copy of that vin sheet and my title in the glove box saying that im legal for 14k. I tried your vin but says your in 6-10,000 range. sounds like some photo shop work to change that to a higher number ha.
