... I decided to research the second or third tier cars. Nova, Cougar 6.5, Second generation Camaro, etc. I wanted a driver. Not a trailer Queen or a project. The more I looked, the more the Nova became pretty good choice. Plentiful parts with, surprisingly, a lot in common with the Camaro. Affordable and mostly likely to grow in value as the Tier One cars get out of reach of commoners.(As he leans forward and quietly whispers.) I would never say this in front of my wife but, if the right deal came around on the right Cougar 390...I might have to accidently on purpose speculate on it.
Oops! Here she comes...shhhhh.

None of mine were matching number cars except for 1 and the most desirable are LS5 or 6 cars. Right now the market is flooded with clone cars, buyer beware.

I thought a cloned Nova SS was what I was going to wind up with until this one came up at the last minute. But, Cloned and original present two different ownership strategies. Especially since this one is a docmented SS.
Being an original SS, I feel the need to keep it that way. So the mission is to maintain with only slight modification that won't impact the arua and value that "original" brings with it.
Had I purchased the SS clone that I was getting ready to buy there would have been no hesitation to do "stuff" to it.
Who knows...it might have looked like this

I've seen them here. Most appallingly, perfectly good ElCaminos and Rancheros. In the wrong hands any vehicle is fair game.
I just looked at your Nova again. I would have grabbed that in a second. Nice choice, really like the black vinyl top on red.

That vinyl top is in perfect condition, as well.
Not to 500 miles yet. Just driving around local. If I get new shocks her and the make sure the front bearings are OK by Friday noon I may take her up to the lake house (70 miles away) for the Easter weekend.
My daughter says we need to give it a name. I wonder if I should start a thread for that?

Originals had a protect-a-plate, build sheets under the seating, hard to find now if someone had been through it. Roll the rear truck lid deck seal down and you find Vins stamped in the body, doors are Vin numbered, frame rails and other places.
I found a sharp 1969 Chevelle SS but the body did not match the Vin.... salesman was on the phone, so I exited real quick. Another place had a nice 70 but the price was not matching, I had him and he knew it, it was an LS 5 car but he bought as an LS 6. He knew he was in deep and would never recover his investment. I laughed when I saw the air conditioning, first tip off it was not an LS 6.
