That's a GREAT engine though.
Mine arrived this morning and I have to say that I am the proud pappy of this girl. Can drive it without any embarrassment right now. Already took it to my mechanic to give it a good once over and make sure it is ready for safety inspection when I get plates next week.
The engine & tranny runs smooth as silk. And SOUNDS great with clean exhaust. Drives true and handles well...for a 43 year old car. I will replace the shocks whether they need it or not next week then start the money sucker list.
The car is all original expect for the paint so I won't be doing much to that can be seen.
The seller did not want to deliver it with a cracked dash pad so he brought me a new one and ordered two new head rests for the seats.
The entire transaction was seamless and the seller delivered a car that was better than described. Pretty honest guy. If I buy another I will start with him.

I was certainly concerned but, he turned the deal when he offered to bring the car in from St. Louis for close to normal transportation fee. If I didn't like it I did not have to pay him and he would haul it back. The only risk was the trans fee.
And like I mentioned, there were no surprises. It is nice doing business with an honest man.
The price I paid for a car like this is/was under market which made it a lot easier. I was close to buying another Nova with SS trim but, not a true SS or matching #'s for $ 3,500.00 more.
So I am quite pleased. But, there are always things to do with a car like this.
I hope to have it ready to participate in part of the Pro Tour on June 1st.

I have to say that I am yet to get used to the looks at red lights. Or the circling of other vehicles while in parking lots etc...It is a great looking / sounding car and people are going nuts over it.
North Texas has a huge population of muscle cars and more dealers dedicated to them that I can count. But, there aren't many clean Nova's on the street so I guess that is why folks are drooling over it. Will take some getting used to.
Going to my first Thursday Night muscle car hang out tonight.

Just over $ 4,000.00 brand new in the box. I even have the 1st 4 years of maintenance records.

That is a very nice car! As for working on them, my brother could pull the motor in 30 minutes out of his. He had a lot of practice! And, unless something is broke, you could usually get one running with a 9/16" wrench, a matchbook, and a flathead screwdriver. If it had a manual tranny, a dead battery was no problem if parked on a hill or you had help pushing it!

Wicked awesome (or sumthin'). Nova and Chevelle SS's of the era were my favorites. I sold a 69 BB Chevelle SS when I downsized to the Imperial about 10 years ago. 4 speed car that the glovebox would slam open when you hit 2nd every time.
The red/black vinyl top combo makes it have that don't eff with me "sleeper look". Rare to find the buckets/floorshift/console too, so many of the autos were column shifted. Good luck and good looks, you'll get pleasantly used to it.
KEEP the original parts you upgrade or replace. If you do decide to sell someday there's plenty of purists that would appreciate and pay a premium for your efforts. Btw, I'm envious you Texans have car cruises year round, our 1st isn't for another month.
