351w will not turn

Just installed 351w into my 1996 bronco after removal for new freeze plugs, rear/front seals, timing chain, oil pan seal, etc. Need to hand turn motor to find TDC for distributor and motor will not crank/turn. I am using a 1/2 inch breaker bar with extension and some serious body weight applied clockwise, nothing. Should I remove spark plugs, insert some kind of penetrating oil to cylinders or do I have a bigger issue at hand?

Also motor has 190k miles and spun freely when removed, did not burn oil, etc, etc, ran perfect.

Thanks.

Did you disturb the torque converter when you pulled the motor? If so it may not be inserted correctly and binding now.

I pulled timing cover, timing chain off to check. Tried to rotate just the crank and nothing at all. Put bronco in neutral, nada.

TC was pulled out and drained. All went back together fine, all bolted up nice.

What do u think, seized?

Thanks.

If you never had to force the engine/trans together or had no problem rotating the TC to bolt it to the flexplate then obviously something happened to the motor. Pull the plugs to see if one or more cylinders are hydrolocked with fuel, if so then you may have pinched a wire somewhere locking an injector open.

take the torque converter bolts out and try to slide the converter backwards towards the transmission, there should be some slop for it to slide in and out, if it doesn't pull the motor away from the transmission and make damn sure the converter is installed correctly, 9 out of 10 times it this type of problem, if that's not it then the only other possibility is the chain and gears, not quite sure how that could be screwed up unless you used the wrong marks to line the gears up, good luck..

I pulled off timing chain/gears and tried to spin just the crank but still frozen.
There is play back/forwards with TC.
What is next option, pull heads?
Thanks.

I'm lost, this was a running engine before you pulled it and all you did was chain and gears?.. This is crazy, theoretically it's impossible but apparently it happened, did you pull the plugs and all that jazz to see if the cylinders are filled with water or something, at this point i don't count anything out..

I am as mystified as you.

Pulled plugs, injectors. How can I check inside cylinders for water, etc?

If you pulled the plugs and assuming there was water in the cylinders it would allow the engine to rotate while it pumped the water out so that's neither here nor there... So, it won't turn in either direction, just locked up tighter than dick's headband, correct ?
This is going to take some serious thought and i will post back later after i make a call to someone more knowledgeable then me..

That is correct, will not rotate in either direction. I am using a breaker bar with extension attached to balancer bolt and nothing.

I also put trans in neutral and tried to rotate engine, nothing.

What do u think?

Thanks.
