Nice D60 article
I finally get my hubs and rebuild kit for my transfer case and I'm thinking I'm gonna slap those hubs on and get to my TC.
Tightening up the outer part of the hubs and I can no longer turn the ****!!!
So I think that little nub on the spindle nut must not be in the spacer hole. Nope , I got that right.
Finally it dawns on me that the outer part of the hub is being jammed up against the end of the outer axle.
There is a funny feeling you get when taking a 4 inch grinder to a $1000 part.
I ground of just enough to eliminate the slight chamfer on the end of the axle. Then I recreated the chamfer with the right angle air grinder.
The finish that Superior puts on their axles also prevents the hub from sliding on easily. According to them it is normal to have to tap the hubs on. Originally I used a driver to tap on the inner most gear, however this knocked out the rear snap ring that holds the hub assembly together.
You have to tap the hub on using the outer most portion(aluminum) to get it on the axle.
In conclusion, what should have taken 1/2 hour tops took 3 more hours. WEEEHAAAAA.

First grind

Cleanup and chamfered

Does not take too much so go easy

Icing on the cake.

On the outside of the Superior it should clearly be marked: Some modification to our parts may be necessary.
