Emission testing question UPDATE : Test completed and PASSED
Ok I returned the truck to stock tuning.
How do I get the "Not Ready" P1000 code to clear? (I think that is the one)
I am having problems finding the procedure.
The state may only do a snap test but the first time I want to
be ready for anything that throw at me.
As for testing, they never looked into the cab of my truck. They do a snap test. I think the guy looked under my truck for the cat, but can't say for sure.
3-5 hard WOTs with a little gizzmo by your exhaust to check opacity. Then off you go.
Washington already has stopped testing diesel trucks that meet a certain exhaust system build, but I think it is for 08s and up. The person at my testing shed said they are trying to quit diesel trucks altogether.
Well the county I live in had (how can I put this) Idiot in a position
that allowed then to make laws and did not want a surprise when I
go in and have then plug in. I under stand what the P1000 is and
I also know that a p1000 will get a fail in some places. And now
with the enviro-nut governor we may see more problems.
They are ready want to add more fuel taxes on again.
Since you put your truck back to stock. I'm sure you will be fine.
There is a guy down here that has EGR delete and straight exhaust, has passed each time.
I'm a little more cautious about that! LOL
I put my cat back in before the trip. And I have to go for a long drive before getting there to make sure the truck is up to temp. Test shed is only a mile and a half from my house.

Move to CA and that will be a flunk at our test.....
Not sure what they charge for re-test here. But I don;t want to have to do one.
In all the years I have been driving I have NEVER had a gas car/truck fail.
My 1988 Ranger with almost 200K at the time passed better than a lady
with a newer car with under 50K. When I told then the miles on the truck
they wanted to keep a copy of my report to show off. The funny part is
that truck got it oil changed every 5 to 12 K miles. But I did not use cheep
gas and I did keep up on plugs. It's numbers were like a new engine very low.
Ok, I just retired and moved up here to the Wa. I am down by Ethel in Lewis county.
Got the truck reg. and other stuff. The question I have is the SMOG TEST required for all of Washington or is it just certain counties?

Certain counties. You can find the state's website for all the counties.
I just passed emissions yesterday with my truck tuned and no cat, 1.4% opacity max of 20. They only revved it to 1200rpm for like a minute though. seemed like a waste of time
