Mike dose this come with a battery tray? It dosen't show it in the picture. Thank you,
Chet
You should be good. I bought mine from DieselFiltersOnline, and the part # was FA-1759. That is a really poor picture and description on the Amazon site.
That was a year ago, 189.98 + 9.95 shipping.
Yes, it comes with the battery tray and all hardware. I also added the foam sleeve to the fender (home brew setup for $5) for a second air intake source. My turbo whistles subtly when I get on it or pull a load, but it is not over the top loud at all. If the radio is on, I have to really try to hear the turbo whistle. I have 20k on my current filter. I just tap the bugs and bigger pieces of debris out of it occasionally, and it doesn't pull the minder in at all right now. I'm about to put a boost gauge on the truck to get a more accurate indicator of flow like Rich does, though.
Just to add to this thread. You do not have to change the AIS until the filterminder says too. Like Tugly said , use your stock filterminder not the on that comes with the AIS kit because the one with the kit is too sensative and sucks down way before the filter is even dirty. You can not go off the looks of the filter. They are designed to hold alot of dirt and still flow alot of air. I had a 08 6.4 and a 07 6.0 Power Stroke (which have the same Donaldson power core filter as the AIS in their stock intakes) and once went almost 75,000 miles on the 6.4 before the filter needed changed and the truck ran fine and got just as good as fuel mileage as with a brand new clean filter. The 6.4 with two turbos needed alot of air too.
Has anyone made their own sleeve or modified the filter housing with any other type of set up to get air from the fender opening?
I did my own. I cut out the side of the filter housing (4 inch diameter hole) and inserted a shop-vac foam sleeve in there ($5 at Home Depot). I had to trim the foam sleeve a little with a pair of scissors to fit the concave shape of the filter housing, but it keeps big stuff out and has not moved a bit since I put it in there.

That's an idea, I spent the $$ on the foam sleeve when I bought mine & after I put it in I thought wow I could have just trimmed a beer can coozie to fit.
I have not regretted the AIS one bit, if you want to keep things stock looking it really fits the bill & beats the stock box hands down no matter what filter you put in the stock box. 4 years & the filter minder has not shown a sign of moving.

I had an AIS a few years back, then switched over to a 6637. Then I got a 38R. Man, do I wish I never got rid of that AIS.... I may just have to buy another one.
