need somewhat urgent help fuel bleed back problem
i finally got around to buying the new injector pump, and putting it on. install went fine but still took a while to make it start. by a while, i worked on it off and on for a week.
after gettiing it to start correctly, while parked downhill on a slight grade with 1/4 tank of fuel - every single line was completely dry when i went to start it today. for the first two rounds of starting. decided to call it a nightl
also new injector pump did not have spot for an arm that comes from above trans to driver side of injector pump. i robbed the arm off the core i sent back, but don't know if anyone has seen anything like this. doesn't that line control shift points? grr
injector return lines (o-rings, caps, hoses, hose clamps),
olives (rubber compression bushings) found at every low-pressure steel fuel line connection, including connections in and out of filter head, line into IP, return like out of the top-front of IP, and at the T fitting where the injector return lines meet the steel return line.
loose connections somewhere - you just worked on everything, and may have forgotten to tighten something along the way
as for that arm to the tranny, thats the kickdown linkage, which commands the tranny to downshift when you floor it, and is seperate from the vacuum system that controls shift points the rest of the time. but to clarify here, the vacuum valve mounts to the drivers side of the IP, the kickdown linkage to the passenger side right next to the throttle cable, at least on my 87.
i can understand them not including that in the rebuilt unit, as the pump is the same regardless of tranny, so needing to reclaim your external parts is pretty common when buying any rebuilt parts.
