Update on my last thread about the cord. 6.4 Diesel, the extension cord was melted some and black. Used a 12 guage cord and after 2 hours the connection was warm. I unplugged it and one of the prongs on the male end on the truck was very hot. The prongs are all loose as well, think I will replace the male end on the truck to eliminate that. What do you all think ??
I traced the heater cord back and found a spot where the outer casing was worn through from years of rubbing against the frame rail. One of the wires was then exposed to the truck.
I was lucky I caught it. The melted plastic on the ground gave it away one morning. I didn't have any issues with electronics or anything else.
When I got my replacement cord I went crazy with loom and electrical tape and protective wrap, and securing it to the frame really good. I check on it every few months and no issues so far.
