Okay geniuses,Gots a question.I am pretty sure my front main seal is leaking.Although it could be coming from oil pan gasket at the front at crank.there is such a buildup of oil and dirt hard to tell.Any way I will figure the source when the sun comes up.My question is,what are the steps to replacing the front main.what problems to expect.only got gasser experience on this particular task.2nd question. If its the oil pan gasket, whats the easiest route to fixing this.Is the o/p gasket a four piece or one piece?Thirdly, not related to the oil leak.I have owned this truck for four years. It seems like it will lose coolant down to a certain point then stop.It has always done this,I have put 30,000 miles on her with this problem.she runs beatifully,no sweet smell,no hydrolock,no oil in radiator,no antifreeze in oil, etc,no visual or physical evidnce of head problems or cavitation.I just did a complete flush and refill not too long ago and only drove a coupe hundred miles since then and my radiator is half full on cold, gets full on warm,Is this normal?but my overfill container seems to b lower. It may just be me in panic mode turning a mole hill into a mountain as usual. If I can stop all the bleeding from the old girl I would be a happy camper. With the exception of REALLY wanting a zf5 and gettin rid of the slush box.Which also works perfectlygood with only 50,000 on a rebuild. Thanks for lookin fellas.
The oil pan is RTV'ed on from the factory. No gasket, and its not recommended that a gasket be used. I've heard its possible to lift the engine enough in the vehicle to give barely enough clearance to clean the block and oil pan and reseal. However maybe easier to pull the engine to do that.
What do you mean by radiator half full??? That is not normal at all. It should be full to the top. The overflow container should be half full, and that will expand when warm, then shrink back when cold.
