'08+ tailgates
I'm looking for a tailgate off an '08+ Super Duty for my '05 F250, I'm not interested in a step.
The only issue is, is that my truck is a rare color(I guess?). It's the dark stone metallic and I'm having a hard time finding one.
I was quoted at a local shop to paint a tailgate for a little over 700+. Does that seem like to much or about right?
Also was curious if anyone knew where I could possibly buy one. I've searched the internet but the only thing I can find is Ebay.

I don`t think any color is rare but for what you`re looking to do yeah...most of the 08-current takeoff tailgates I see are white with a few exceptions...I would`nt pay someone more than a couple hundred to paint a tailgate assuming it`s in good shape not needing any extra work

check craigslists....also look for a utility bed conversion shop/dealer in your area...if the repaint is included for the $700 that`s not a bad deal considering $500 is pretty much the average price I see on these tailgates

Great. Thanks y'all. I'm considering painting in the "Super Duty" at the bottom either like a gloss black to match my bumper replacements, or the tan that's the color of my 2 tone. Which do y'all think would look better?

Haha the diamond plate would be cool, but the truck doesn't have a lot of chrome anymore. Got frontier gear front and back bumper replacements, high gloss black toolbox, painted the tailpipe for my straight pipe gloss black and have a 5 inch gloss black tip too, and I had the stock Lariat wheels and centercaps powder coated high gloss black. Plan to put the Harley Davidson headlights and getting a grill painted high gloss black as well. So I'm either going with gloss black or the tan to match the 2 tone. Anyone's opinions are welcome,would like to hear what everyone else thinks.

I looked and looked for a black one,Couldnt find one in good shape.I ended up finding a white 12' tailgate for $300.I bought it right away.I got a quote for $270 to have it painted black.I'm happy...

likewise $500 is the average I find craigslist,ebay etc...
