is a AIC worth the space it takes in the cab. i got one and it is cool but we dont have that long of cold of a winter so i cant deiced if i need it? my ac works great so i dont really have to have it for the summer but it might help,
what do you think keep it or sell it, and why you think so.
the thing is big and most of the dash is covered with gauges Ham radio brake controller, there is not a lot left to put it. right know it is just in the floor and that is not going to work. if i do keep it where is a good place to put it?
I suggest you sell it. People are paying crazy money for those things on eBay right now. The highest prices are in the middle of the winter so you need to sell soon or just wait until the holidays roll around again. I bought one for $15 on eBay a couple of years ago and got tired of having it in the cab so I listed it on eBay and it sold for $275. Crazy.
I used to use it more often but then two of my trucks got chips with the high idle tune as one of the choices and the third truck has a PTO trans (so the high idle feature works by default) so I really didn't need the AIC any longer.
Although....I think having a high idle setting via a custom program is the best method. Second best is the AIC using the Charge Protect feature and then my last choice is the factory high idle circuit for trucks that run a PTO 4R100. The reason I put this last is the PCM also increases the line pressure in the trans while the PTO circuit is active so this can possibly lead to fluid puking out the front seal. We have had this happen to a few of our work trucks. The fluid gets hot and the tranny pukes. Adding a larger cooler helped but the eventual fix was moving the pump to be engine driven instead of off the transmission. This keeps the trans fluid temps in line.
i know there going for 145 on ebay. i cant see haveing to have the space for it, i do like how it will warm up the truck fast but not sure how good it is on the oil or motor.
Guess I should have read your sig. I'd say if you really want high idle, just get a reburn. Now the hard question is, which tune to sacrifice lol. Tough decision.
