Well I got the job. Now I have to figure out how to apply for an apprenticeship cert so I can do more stuff. The L&I website is a bit confusing... Oh well I'll ask tomorrow.
Well, it was a bit crazy. I got home from the gas station job at about 3:25am went to bed, then woke up at 5:30am to get ready for work again. The morning was difficult cause I was already drained of energy. I'm not sure why but around 11am I started to get a little more energy and things started going smoother. Tonight, I plan to finish my giant bowl of chili, pop a few Nyquil and go to bed before 9pm.
Ehh that was probably my fault. I learned that you can never trust an impact gun to keep your nuts tight . Seeing as I don't have the right extension to put on my torque wrench, I will have to use a neighbors till I get one. If I can get some real wheel studs and lug nuts I don't need to worry about breaking them if I put some weight in tightening them.
Now is also a good chance to get some steel rims and trash these crap aluminum ones.
I don't mind using one to get the nuts snug, it's quicker than finger tightening them. Especially when it's cold out and your fingers are stiff. I had learned about not using an impact gun on lug nuts but figured that using them has never gone wrong for me. I guess now it has Oh well.
You should get a cross lug wrench so you can spin them on.
This one folds up so it's smaller. Here is where it came from. Your local Wally World Torin Jacks 14" Folding Lug Wrench - Walmart.com
Mine go on at 150 Ft/lb. Back buster for sure. The 02 Ranger was only 90Ft/Lb
I have something similar to that but bigger. I needed the bigger one to clear my sidewalls. The book rates mine at 90ft/lbs as well even though that's not nearly enough. I would like mine to be 150 but don't trust the studs to hold up to that. I doubt my torque wrench would hold up to it. I could probably get 120-150 on my own with my 4 way lug wrench if the studs/nuts held up. then I would feel very safe even if it was difficult to loosen them.
Wow Dylan, sorry to hear that. Because that sucks.
Seeing as how I just did my rear brakes I'm going to recheck my lugs this weekend for sure. Any or much damage to the drum or suspension?
The suspension is fine, the drum is hosed though. The thick outer metal rim, it's broken.
With the way this looks, I probably won't be driving it to the meet this month. As much as I don't want to, I might be driving the green Chevy van in one of the pictures. I don't want to go to a FORD meet in a CHEVY but unless my parents let me borrow one of their mustangs, that will be my transport.
