I am going to use rocker gaurd on ours and paint over top . Rocker gaurd is meant to be painted so hopefully a scratch won't show up much with black on black . Also Mercury step plates .

if your gonna drive this truck and take it to the occasional show pile on the clear then every year or so you can wet sand the scratches out. I really like the bedliner on the ribs after everything is painted idea

I painted mine with a coat of epoxy primer, then POR-15 Chassis black....then painted them with Herculiner bed liner. I don't have any problem stepping on these!!

What about using some of the clear wrap that I have seen people use on the front of cars and such to protect against rock chips, etc? I was thinking of using a small section of that in the general area I will be stepping. If it ones not work I can pull it off without damaging the paint I suppose.
