I have a miss on cylinder one and i can not get rid of it. I have changed the plugs and i have changed the coil pack. I is a 2000 ford f 150 with the 5.4
The only thing i have not done is change the fuel injector on it. But I think maybe my problem is bigger than that. Does the cooling system run near it or by it because when i take the coil pack out it is soaking wet with water. that is the only one that is like that. when i take a flashlight and look down the hole where the plug goes i can see what looks like a spot where rust is and it runs down the side of the hole. Does anyone have any idea of maybe the head gasket or something is there that maybe i have blown and it is letting water in on the spark plug. Or if there is any other solution to the problem.
I am assuming this is coolant and not water?
Check for a leak at the cross over coolant pipe.It is a few inches in front
of that cylinder.
If you have to, pressure test the coolant system to find the leak.
i assume it's coolant also though it's not green. it is a rusty color and doesnt smell like coolant but i havent put antefreeze in it since i ownded the truck for seven years. it has always stayed full. it sits on top of the plug and i assume it seeps down around the plug or fouling out the coil.
Also I am just one person and I am not sure how to do a pressure test on one or what to look for. My mechanic passed away the other day and now im just kinda stuck not knowing what to do
You would need a pressure tester to do the test. Most shops would have this tool,it doesn't take long to do.
If you are sure it is water, being #1 cylinder only, I don't know where it could be coming from.
You need to find out for sure if this is water or coolant.
If it is coolant my first guess on this is a leak at the cross over.
good luck and keep us posted
after spending plenty of money on new plugs and new coil and a new fuel injector, come to find out I'm pretty sure that I have blown the intake gasket.
