1971 bronco

so im looking at a 71 bronco, has a newer 351 windsor, three on the tree and duffy 3" lift. no rust and pretty straight. hard top. what would be a good price for it. the guy is asking $7000.00. and what should i look out for on it.

Well no rust is a great way to find a EB. I'd ck for a clean swap job on the moter, and has it had a front disk brake swap?

Ck typical used truck stuff, xfer case/4x4 operation ect.... These EB's have a notorious rep for bad wiring especially under the dash, so ck all the lighting ect..

That sounds like a sort of steep price, but if it is real real straight and drives out nice and no rust with a hard top and doors, it sounds like a pretty good deal.

went by and did a quick look. original paint and doors plus top. paint still looks good, plus has the molding down the sides. pretty straight, really minor rust in passengers floor pan size of a quarter. im going back this afternoon to hear it run. ive got a old 90 harley fxstc he wants to trade for. ive been trying to it for 5 years on craigslist. nothing wrong with the bike just dont ride anymore. bike needs nothing. tires are bad on the bronco but id be buying it for future investment, i know the bronco will go up in price while the bike will hit $6000.00 and thats it, no up or down. i have a 55 ****** jeep thats all done, 350, warn overdrive and everything else but the bronco is going to worth a lot more. anyway ill be checking it out later. by the way, no disc brakes or power steering. but thats not a problem to do. i put power steering on my 55 ****** jeep.

Sound like a deal on underway, congrats. There are a few EB sights that show you how to swap in a F150 steering box, better than the OEM set up.

yeah, that and the brakes ill do. a friend of mine has a 70 or 71, with the disc and a 351 stroker, forgot what size thats makes his engine but hes a mech. out in prescott valley arizona. hes never done the power steering, thats the besst thing i ever did to my old jeep, but im sure it isnt to hard. the thing having a 4" lift is a plus. rebuilt engine, well ill see. if its rebuilt it shouldnt have much blowby and run like a rocket. not sure if any lockers in it but thats not a big deal either. ive seen these broncos for a whole lot of money. and who knows, maybe ill sell my jeep. sell my jeep, what am i nuts, ill never sell my old jeep. but a old bronco would be a good friend for it, you know some one to keep it company.

If I was going to pay 7000 for a rig it is going to be in great shape, I mean GREAT shape, no dents or rust.

I think in Az, Ut and Co, a EB can be located alot easier than here in the midwest. And out west vehicles are usually rust free.

well no rust, couple dents. duffy 4" lift, rebuilt 351 windsor, three on the tree. hard top. all original other than the motor. im not paying $7000.00 im trading a 90 harley fxstc. bike needs nothing but have been trying to sell it for 5 years for $7000.00. offered couple corvettes, a dully truck. nothing i wanted. i know my bike isnt going in value but the bronco should. it is a arizona truck. wife wants me to get rid of the bike, i dont ride it anymore, so i guess a 71 bronco sitting in my yard is going to be worth more down the road than a 90 harley. anyway ill see what happens today.

Well like they say "its only body work"... yea and about the worst panel to be replaced too.

But as long as the frame and mechanicals are all good, sounds like you almost have a new Bronco.

The quarter panel extensions (that the taillamps fit into) have been reproduced, available from Bronco Graveyard. The taillamps are the same: 1967/72 F100/350 Styleside Pickups, 1969/74 Econoline & 1967/77 Bronco.

well i did find some more rust, at least its not in the front fender areas, in the rear of the bed, i know they sell kits for that. guess they didnt have a welder when the duff kit was installed because the front only has the 1 shock and they didnt put the front piece on for the front shock, they are only $7.00 apiece and im getting the shocks too. have to find the drivers side outside handle rod for the latch, wonder where that went. looks like ti will be a fun project and lots of places to find parts.
