Lower Control Arms
Anyone ever replace their lower control arms? I've read a couple places that you don't need a spring compressor. Any feedback would really be appreciated. Anything else to look out for? 2000 F150 4.6L 2WD 288,000 miles, thanks.

U can use a floor jack on UR 4x2 to compress it and gradually release spring pressure. If U had 4x4 it would have torsion bars which U will need to release. Make sure to have good floor jacks under, supporting weight of truck. U may need new ball joints and tie rod ends along with UR bushings. Make sure and mark UR positions clearly.

Thanks Papa. I'm needing all new ball joints upper and lower, and I decided to replace all four control arms since the new ones are complete with ball joints and bushings. Have the notorious death wobble. Tie rod ends seem ok, no lateral play, just the vertical

I did the 2' lift with Bilsteins to my front last year. U need to watch the top mount area to get it back the same. Loosen the ball joints nuts and rap with a hammer to dislodge them from the spindle, then release the spring pressure. Support the spindle from turning and damaging the brake lines.
