Most the time I have no problem having it. It has come in handy on a few occasions where having it kept the back end from sliding in a corner when slick (nothing I couldn't have handled on my own) but still nice. Also going up slick roads TC kicks in aliminating need for 4x4. But there have been times were having it is a nitemare like deep snow where your stratching and clawing trying to gain footing it hurts rather than help or there's hardpack , or any kind of slick footing Now before everyone starts telling me how you can shut it off bla bla bla. I know how to shut off TC and advancetrac. Heres the problem even when you shut it off it is still 20% active so in those real slick spots it will still rear it's ugly head. Heck the stuipid thing even works when the locker is engage How good can that be? I love the truck!! But absolutly hate the way traction control is made for these things. I dislike it so much the thought is in my head of going back to a older truck before they started putting this junk in there. Now I did just (friday) put new tires on so that should help alot with the need for TC to kick in but........................
modern age get use to it, but when its off i would think its 100% off no? Theres times when a little throttle gets me through mud etc where 4x4 is not needed, if i had some computer telling my truck no id smash that thing with the BFH!
im actually glad i read threads like this, as much as i want a new truck threads like this make me thank god i have my 04. No computer telling me what i can and cannot do...
Are you running with ballast in the bed? What tires?
As much as I can 900# anymore and she squats to much being a 250 that sits level. I orderd the firestone airbag suspension which should be here by end of week. As for tires I was running the oem continetail contitracs horrible. Friday I was finally able to get new tires (firestone winterforce studded) so that should help alot.

You would think but you would be wrong, it is still 20% active.
I always turn off the TC in the odyssey as soon as I turn the key. That is the only vehicle I have with TC.
I am one of those people that is hindered by TC, ABS, and stuff. I need the control! I find it is much harder to drive when the computer is conflicting my inputs.
There was a post in the 6.7 forum not too long ago discussing this - you might search there - but as I remember it, you had to press and hold the button to turn the whole system (or majority?) of it off. Just pressing the button only turned off one aspect I think.
Wife's Edge has TC. I had to turn it off one day so I could claw up and out of a Sheetz parking lot. Darn car wouldn't even move until I turned the TC off. Lots of partially frozen shush.
do all the new SD have it or just the XLT and higher models? Im really looking at ordering a new F350 in XL model but if it has this dumb traction control im gonna keep my 04 and swap in a 6speed manual this summer
So very glad to have new tires. Plowed 3" of wet snow today with no wieght and no tc comming on so happy happy happy. Get my airbags thursday then I doubt the tc will come into play much anymore which will make me happier happier happier.
The traction control takes some getting used to but I wouldn't let it sway my decision in buying a new vehicle. Every vehicle is coming with it, times are changing, time to adapt.. I will say when I shut mine off, it's off. I can one wheel peel the crap out of the rear tire (I have the locker so open diff). I haven't tried locking the diff with the TCS off to spin the tires. It'd disengage the locker above 23mph (or whatever it is) anyways unless you're in 4 low. If I'm spinning the tires that much though (unintentionally), then I should be in 4wd.
