My Custom Dash Project (pics)

Some of you all have seen my gauge cluster I made........

Well....I couldn't leave well enough alone so......

I had purchased a Vintage Air kit a while back. The unit comes with smaller vents to use and seeing as how the factory vents were to big to use anyways, that meant the old ones had to go and that meant I had to mess with the dashframe to cut the new ones. So I welded the old vents up and while I was at it, i decided to weld upthe ashtray as well.

Got the body filler on and got it primmed.

Today, I got it painted...which is what prompted this thread.

......and of course it doesn't stop there. From where I disassembled thefactory cluster, I had to do something with the turn signal towers I kept. Whatif they got inserted into the trim surround.....wouldn't that rock. Well here'sthe pics from the journey I took trying to do this.

Here's the turn signal towers I took to fab into the trim surround.

Here's the jest of what I'm trying to do....front back views ect.

Here’s what it’ll look like out back:

After some fiddling with it, it started to look like something:

While I was here I went ahead and fabbed up the last factory vent to holdthe vacuum gauge I have and trimmed out the old stereo area for the new one Ibought though you cant tell it.

It’s not quite done yet, I still have hours and hours left of detail sandingbefore final paint. I’m hopin to get it all finished up and installed in the nextfew weeks. Once it’s all together I think it’ll look sweet……..

Thank you.

I'm not a professional and this ain't no show truck but I'm havin' fun.

Just trying to look for the one thing no one has ever done to a Dent. Lets face it, in what...40 yrs almost everythings been done to a Dent. All sorts of custom stuff out there......but I had a dream. A dream of someday being that one person who could find that silly little thing that could put me on the "cool" list of The Dent Kings.

Got the trim piece sanded some more and another coat of primmer on it to look for the high spots. Hopefully if the weather round here holds up it may be done this weekend.

Not that easy. I bought new gauges, new senders and of course a new gas tank along with new lines and such.

Nothings OEM. Sorry I can't help you.

This is turning out pretty awesome. I wasn't sure if I was going to go modded dash for my 77 street truck, but I think you've convinced me to seriously consider your route. Keep up the good work and updates!!

Nice work! I like the turn signal indicator idea. I may have to steal part of that...
