hey thanks again for all the help everyone, unfortunately I ran out of time on that project so looks like ill be taking it to a shop. so last night I rebuilt and got everything hooked back up. today I took it for a drive and got all ot opterating temp, then started to get on it a bit. just wanted to make sure all my connections were good, well when the turbo hit about 14-15psi there was a loud noise that sounded like air escaping the turbo all at once. the truck still drives, I don't hear any rattling around of pieces and no smoke of any color. turbo still whines but builds no boost lol. if its not one things its the other haha, maybe I blew that third bolt off. thanks for any advice guys, you are all awesome
I remember feeling a very soft/ warn spot on one of the hoses. Didnt think anything of it at the time, but im assuming thats what failed. The clamps on the turbo are still tight, when I get home I take a look, maybe get a picture. Thanks for the quick response!
I had that same thing happen pulling a 14k 5th wheel up a grade. Loud POP then I started loosing power. Oncoming cars were flashing lights at me to get my attention. What they were concerned about was the black smoke bellowing out from under my hood ( un burnt fuel ) I pulled over, grabbed my 11 mm wrench and reconnected the boot at the turbo. It blew that CAC tube right off. I hopped back and and hit the hill again only to have it blow off again about a 1/4 mile up the road. 2nd time I made sure and got the tube in the groove of the connector. Took the torque up to what I would call ( as much as I could muster with a 4 inch long wrench ) <-- this is very technical. It stayed on after that. Got to my destination and cleaned the oil off with some good solvent and put it back on. I never replaced it and its been a couple years ago. It sounded like a tire blowing the first time. I barely made it to the side of the road when it happened. Not sure if this is your problem, but this was my situation.
just a little update, checked my edge insight and got a DTC P132B. Some people are saying that's from the vanes sticking, think it oculd also be caused by loose hose or clamp? thanks again
update:
well you guys were 100% correct, blew the CAC right off the bracket and the clamp was up on top of the battery... talk about luck that I didn't loose that thing hahaha. just glad to have found the problem. thanks again everyone! you guys are truly the best
