Intake Gaskets with EGR Delete

I would like to start off by saying this is a great forum. I try to look through it everyday, and I calculated I have saved myself over a couple of thousands of dollars in repair cost by keeping up with this forum. Sorry I can't send some of those $ to some of you that have helped. Now on to my question. I have ordered an EGR delete kit. I was told I will have to loosen the intake to get the cooler out. Do I need to go on and pull the intake out and replace the intake gaskets? From what I have read, they are reusable. In the past anytime I have removed the intake from a gas burner, I always replaced the gaskets. Don't know if this makes a difference. I am also doing an oil cooler replacement. I have a love/hate relationship with an 05 with 150,000 miles. Anyhelp is appreciated.

They are cheap....replace them and you'll have one less thing to worry about. You will need an inch lb torque wrench. If you have time......send your manifold out to get hot tanked and try and do a CCV reroute if you havent already. You will be happy you did.

I did a full delete from FCPD. I could not imagine what yours looks like after 150k....mine had 40k and it had ATLEAST 1/4" buildup in some spots....no *****!

Good Luck

No, you won't have to remove the intake all the way (unless it is really really nasty inside) and no reason to replace the gaskets unless they happen to get messed up. They are completely reusable. I didn't even take the bolts all the way out on the drivers side when I did my last EGR delete.

with that kind of mileage, IMO it needs to come off and be cleaned. The gaskets are cheap.

I agree 06silvercrew....for 20.00 why **** around with it?

I still am of the opinion that the intake should be hot tanked.....again just my opinion
