Thats what I did^^and Also went final charge coolant with a coolant filter its been almost 2 years temps are still good as day it was new far as I can tell threw my Gauges
Yes, the updated OEM oil cooler. I also installed the DFuser coolant filter kit and used Final Charge as well. Running down the highway at 75 MPH was about a 5 degree spread.
I'm going to be doing all of the same adds to mine. Any install or takedown tips you picked up? Would love any additional advice.
Wouldn't really recommend trying to do it with the cab on. It is possible, but not easy. If you're going to you need to be extremely careful not to scratch the head gaskets setting the heads back on. I would recommend using an engine hoist to remove and lower the heads if the cab is on still.
Diesel Site is currently working on a high pressure oil delivery system for the 04.5 - 07 trucks that is supposed to help feed the system better. I guess we'll see what it does once it comes out. Also, I see they only have an upgraded HPOP for the 03-04 trucks and not one for the 04.5 - 07 trucks so I guess I don't have that option anyways. I'm gonna update the first page with this info as well... or not because I can't edit the post anymore. lol

I guess that's it for now.
I don't believe from what I've read that the OEM 04.5+ HPO pumps are a problem for stock trucks. I think they are supplying enough oil for anything a stock engine would require. So the new dieselsite pump for those years would be for folks who might be going for greater HP or who just like more toys. And good for those who would like to own one.
For the earlier years however, 2003-2004.5, it did make sense for them to offer an upgraded pump. The techs on here report more issues with those years. I needed to replace mine recently (2003) and all the reading of posts I did before my purchase suggested that a Ford replacement HPOP could be a crap shoot. It might get me 200K miles ... but it might get me 20k miles. I didn't want to take that chance so I went with the dieselsite and their 18 month warranty.

Yea, I've read the 03-04 pump was problematic minus the fact it didn't have the STC fitting. Maybe that's why I can't find an upgraded pump for the 04.5 - 07 is because it's able to supply what you need, even on upgraded fueling. If I were you I'd have gone for the upgraded pump as well, especially since the Motorcraft one is probably the same price.

I think the Dieselsite was double the price of the Ford one. But I do 35k - 40k miles a year depending on business, with a huge skew towards most of those miles being done summer / fall.
So someone else might figure that 20k miles is a few years of driving so the gamble is worth it. For me I could do that 20K in 7 months and there was no way I wanted to roll that dice and have to go back into the engine again around Thanksgiving. An extra $400 for me was worth the peace of mind.

Didn't want to be sleeping on the couch around Thanksgiving either

I would have easily spent the 400 dollars on the upgraded pump at that point. It's a very important component to the system and isn't exactly easily swapped.
I thought the '05+ pump was the upgrade for earlier models? Didn't the pump get improved in '05?
Yes, the pump was re-designed and besides the STC fitting on the new style pump it's fairly bulletproof. Diesel Site only makes an upgraded pump for the older style due to the issues it had. You CAN swap to the newer style HPOP but it requires changing quite a few things which is why most people just go with the Diesel Site pump when their 03-04 pump ****s.
