i want a roller block

i have a 92 full size bronco, 302 efi, e4od with 432k. i bought it new and put 333k on the origional engine. then i put a factory rebuild in it and now have 99k on that engine; and it is DONE. i want to put a roller block in it and have found several blocks; but the seller said it would not work for me. here is my statement and someone tell me if this is right or wrong. if i use MY crank; and a new roller cam suited for MY firing order, then i should be able to use ANY roller cam block punched out to LESS than .060 over. then rework MY heads, new pistons with moly rings to match freshly punched block, put new roller rockers on, new push rods, new hyd roller lifters, use MY efi system, new oil pump, and i should have a pretty nice 302 reguardless of the casting number!!! WRIGHT OR WRONG? THANK YOU in advance for any and all input !!! i remain-going nuts in tn.

You probably know this...my 94 5.8 was the first year with roller and that extra 1/2" stroke on the 5.8 over the 5.0 makes a big difference.

Your truck should have had a roller motor in it to begin with and if the reman was correct it should have been too. Any '87+ 5.0 block is technically roller ready meaning it will accept the factory roller cam assembly even if it didn't originally come with it, you do not however need to change the crank it has nothing to do with firing order just the cam, lifters, pushrods, spider and dogbones. The cylinder heads and rockers are not roller specific but E7TE castings are much better than E6SE/TE castings found on some early motors. Safe overbore on the 5.0 block is generally considered 0.040" over, you can take some blocks out to 0.060" over but don't expect a long life from it.

thanks cfor that. since i posted today; i found a short block 302 roller in texas punched out .030. got it for $100. casting on it is f1se; so i think i did pretty good. i will look at the heads on my engine and see what they are. thanks for the heads up on the better heads. i am reading everything i can about rockers. i haven't decided whether to use 6.1 or 7.1. i am usually conservative; so will more than likely go with 6.1. thanks again david griffin

Any idea if that is a truck or car motor? There's nothing wrong with using 1.7 rockers on a stock cam regardless.. it'll help the motor breath better.

Get ya some GT40 or GT40P heads off the 5.0 Explorer/Mountaineers. It'll run excellent. I've got a whole '99 Mountaineer engine in my '92 Bronco and it runs damn good.
