Do I have a roller block?

1993 4x4 F-150 5.0 w/E4OD
Can I check the vin?, find a casting # on the block somewhere. There's no need for me to tear into the motor yet, the truck has 320K on it. I'm just trying to do my homework because I'm going Block hunting for a new engine. How much trouble is it to convert a non roller block to roller?

The block itself is probably drilled to accept the roller lifters even if it doesn't have a roller cam in it now. You would just need to get the lifters and retainer, and a roller cam of course. You could get these used fairly cheap if cost is a factor.

Even if you need to get a roller block. They are plentiful. Just watch the swap sheet or some local Mustang forums in your area. A used stock Mustang 5.0 longblock can be had for $100-$200 bucks in running condition. They are roller motors and have E7TE Truck heads on them already.
