Ok, I know this is highly subjective but here goes - what do you think my 87 F250 LD 4x4 is worth?
116k actual miles, starts/runs/drives perfect. Interior is in great shape, A/C has been converted to 134 and works. So does the heat, nice and toasty. It's an XLT Lariat with all the trimmings and slightly crusty American Racing aluminum rims.
It's got the typical ford rust but very mild, mostly just bubbling/light perforation in the typical areas. It'll probably need an exhaust in a year or two. It needs two rear tires but they're serviceable for now. It's got front and rear sway bars, the tow package, 351HO, C6, 3.55 open gears.
It's two tone, black/gray with a red interior. Needs nothing, at least at the moment there's nothing I know it needs... Well, except to tighten the alternator belt... It's new though but I didn't get it tight enough as it likes to squeal at startup.
Trying to decide what I should do with it...
Oh and the plow setup isn't included. I'm going to remove it and would replace the bumperlets with a full bumper.
I wouldn't pay that for it either..I paid 1500 for my truck, 2 years newer, less miles, not a LD, same motor, ZF 5 speed, lower gears, and mine never had a plow hanging on the front of it...realistically, I'd pay 1000 for it.
So 1,000-1,500. That's kind of what I was thinking. Just wanted it confirmed. 2 years ago I paid 2k for it with the plow, a meyer's C7.5 blade with E-60 pump that needed new packing. No snow the last 2 winters so I didn't make anything off it but I did sell a bunch of stuff at the same time and did really well.
Don't know if it's worth it to me to sell for $1,000. Not with all the usable parts...
Maybe I'll throw patches in the bed, prime it and sell it. What is a clean, ready to paint bed/tailgate worth? It's a very small area over each wheel arch that's rotted. Quick fix...
I see you said you're still deciding what to do with it, why are you thinking about getting rid of it? Just don't need the extra truck anymore? If it were me, I'd hang onto it and just use it as a plow truck until it's used up.
Lets see, I've got an 89 Bronco, 86 F150, F250, 87 F250, 90 Bronco (carcass) and an 04 Ram 1500. Plus I've got a 70 Chevelle, 93 Cobra and 05 GT...
Granted, not all are running but I'm out of space... Time to thin the herd a bit. The F150 is being used by my cousin and the 87 and the Ram are going to go once the 86 Supercab is on the road. The 90 Bronc will hopfully be picked clean soon enough and I'm not sure what to do with the 89 Bronc... It's got some title issues, otherwise I'd have it on the road...
I'll sit on it for now, I'm in no rush to sell it or part it. Just wondering if my spidey sense was correct... There's a weak market at the moment for trucks like that. They're today's $50 beaters... I was thinking realistically I could get $800-1,200 for it pretty quickly.
Oh I know what you mean about the market being weak. But the market is altogether different than it used to be. The fact that you said "$50 beaters" really brought that to mind. How often do you see a whole running driving car for sale for $50 any more? Almost unheard of.
