distributor removal

I have a cracked head, or so I believe on an 86' 2.9L. When I pull the distributor out tomorrow, what special things should I be aware of? I concerned I'll put it back in wrong. Pics would be great. I've already marked by plug wires, so I'm good there.

Thank you in advance FTE

Pull the dist cap, then turn the engine till the rotor points to the #1 plug wire in the cap. Then mark the base of the dist with a matching mark to the block where it bolts down. Then if you don't turn the engine, things will go back just fine, but if the engine does get turned, no problem, pull the #1 plug, find compression with your finger over the hole, bring it to tdc, and drop the dist in with the rotor and your marks lined up.
