120 volt outlets?

close to a wrap
So while crawling around under my 72 during my engine swap I looked more closely at my wiring remnants and see that indeed there is a tab that clearly used to hook up to the alternator. The wire is really well protected with a heavy woven insulation around it and what looks like two fuse blocks or breakers attached right near where it should be attached to the alternator. The wiring looks very expensive and is certainly long. Factory option or common aftermarket upgrade? How many volts does an alternator put out (I know it's a range) before the voltage regulator? I'm guessing here but this wire would run from the positive side of the alternator and then the body of the truck would serve as the ground for the outlet? I might just hook this baby up after I chase the wiring completely to make sure I don't have a dead short anywhere. Cheers.
