That's all well and good that you have your beer and watch the footy, but surely this should be done on a spare bench seat in the tub of your truck!
Uh oh a dare
I can see it now, hydraulically operated stand for an 80 inch outdoor TV with fold out seating and a billion watt pa system with built in silent cribs for the younguns, all out of an 8 ft bed.
I'm not quiet too sure my new 130 AMP alternator would be able to handle that load. I think I'll need to borrow a 30KW WisperWatt Tow Gen from the lot.
Now that I think about it Candy Cane would look pretty good towing that generator around...
It's time to launch my new project, The under hood beatification project/Steering rebuild project/Fuel system upgrade project.
It started out as two separate projects but since access will be easy with the front panels off..... Yep, you guessed it..... I might as well do that. I'll probably clean and paint the frame and radiator support too since acess will be easy. This Friday I'll take the Candy Cane to the paint shop and they will pull the hood off so they can paint the underside and add some more clear coat to the top of the hood. It's gonna look great. They will keep it until I'm done on my end so I will need to be pretty quick because I don't want my hood sitting around too long at a body shop, it's kinda big and heavy.
The plan is,
-Remove front panels and take the inner fenders to get powder coated.
-Replace steering gearbox, lower steering shaft bearing. Add a steering block to the front end to ease the drop link angle. Replace Steering stabilizers.
-Replace fuel pump, add fuel regulator, replace hoses with braided steel hoses with new fittings.
-Replace the front parking light lenses.
-Clean and paint everything I can get too and make it pretty.
I ordered a ton of parts from Red Head, Summit, DC and JBG. The Summit stuff came in along with my Red Head today.
Oh so nice!!
Here's one last shot of the Candy Cane before work begins but this time I managed to get the woman I love, my lovely wife and the best mom in the world to pose for a photo op. It's a iPhone pix as I didn't want her to change her mind while I got my good camera.
Just curious does the wife ever drive your truck? That would make a really beautiful sight. Even though she looks as though she needs a step to get in.
HIO - Project is already over budget, Oh well, Just need to work more.

Nope, I have offered many times but she doesn't want to drive it. She's 5'3 so I give her a helping hand getting in the truck.
This has to be one of the best looking trucks on this website. It has certainly set the gold standard for build threads! Keep up the progress.
Thanks and your wish is my command! Here's the latest. Friday morning I dropped the hood off at the body shop.
Guy on the right sure likes the camera.
Looks strange without my hood.
Today I'll start work on the tear down. I hope to get all the panels off and start work on the steering system.
Popcorn is popping.
Beers are getting cold.
Seat is warm.
Ok, I'm ready for the Candy Cane marathon
Chugging my last cup of coffee, gotta go get my wife her Jamba Juice (Eeewww) so she will be happy today and I'll have to get some paint while I'm out.
