Looking good. I just bought an 85 300D as a donor car for my 71 F100.
Are you going to convert the diesel to SVO? (Straight vegetable oil) it works by starting on diesel and switches SVO after the engine and the heated SV0 tank is warmed up. Theres a few of those Mercedes around here that are converted to do that. That would be a great truck conversion

No. I am familiar with the SVO setup... my dad does a lot of them on the big island where these cars are very plentiful. I have an abundance of waste engine oil so I will probably run that at 20% with diesel.
Billva: Any chance on close ups of where the factory engine mounts sit? I can't find any decent pictures of OM617 setups in Ford trucks. I am thinking of using Ford 300 I6 mounts with the Merc engine arms and building platforms on my x-member.
Took the truck for it's first ride today. The motor runs pretty good, and has more power than I was expecting.
Lots of little things to finish, but I needed to try it out to see if all the work was worth it. Haven't done anything body wise yet. I plan to widen the bed about 6" or so to bring the fenders out.
Nice having the better suspension and disc brakes.
Does anyone know of a smaller diameter steering wheel that looks something like the original? This one feels way to big now with the power steering.
