Knocked on the door today of a nice gentleman that had a pristine 1977 F-100 Ranger SWB 2wd that has beem sitting for at least 8 years that I know of. I asked if he would consider selling it and he told me, "For the ridiculous pice I would have to get for it, no one would buy it.". He said it was the last truck his father bought and he would want at least $15,000 for it. He gave me a good lead on another truck and I told him good luck and that it would be nice to see his truck on the road someday.
So what is the most anyone has told you that it would take for them to part with a truck? Running or not, this is the highest price I have ever been told, it trumps the $14,000 restored 79' sitting in Lake City Florida I looked at 6 months ago.
I found a beautiful white on red short box dent side a while back for $3,500. It truly was in showroom condition except for the fact that the NIB ac compressor wasthe sitting in the passenger side floorboard. Since seeing that truck I cannot fathom spending more then $4,000 for a mint example.
I paid 5k for a 79 2wd f250 lariat trailer special. Had 52k miles and was original down to the tires. It was stored winters. And had to have been inside most of its life.
I've got a 75 monte that is rotting away until the day I start rebuilding her. Never in my lifetime gonna be for sale, too many memories and great times in that car. My Scab is gonna be the same way, I'd want WAYYYY too much more than anyone would be willing to pay, so it'd never sell.
When I got the bug to own another '70s era F-series a few years back, right before the economy tanked, there was a pristine, unrestored '79 short bed 4x4 xlt lariat in amazing condition at a dealership in MI. They were asking $14,500 iirc and wouldnt even discuss an offer from me as they had a buyer coming from TX. They said if the deal fell though they would let me know. I called back in a few days and the truck was on its way to TX.
that truck in Lake City is pretty though, isn't it. Wishes is supposed to be the best in town, I'm told
It is beautiful. Candy red with black interior, new chrome. Really is a good lookin' truck. A guy in Lake Butler has a 77' longbed in all original shape that is as close to perfect as you will find in a non restored driver for $6,500. Beautiful truck too.
I found a red on red short bed with a 351W in very good shape for $3,200 about this time last year that I came very close to buying, but I waited too long.
My first dent side was given to me, light blue on blue '78 swb 2wd , 302, with a 3 on the tree. My step dad paid $600 in 1988. My second was a 79' 4×4 F-150 with a 429CJ, C6, Dana 44 front and Dana 60 rear. Paid $1,500 for that in 2002. Got a 73' swb 2wd with a 300 6cyl. AT for $650, and a 77' longbed with a 460 and a C6 for $500. Paid $1,200 for the one in my profile pic about two weeks ago.
