1999 F250 239,000 miles
Just had front end work done. New hubs, seals, CV joints, ball joints, etc. Original problem was hitting the smallest hole on the road or even running over a reflector would cause such as shaking and grinding vibration in the truck you had to stop and try to move again. Problem is now fixed and drives preety smooth.
New problem...When approaching 55+ MPH there is what feels like air pressure that builds in the inside of the cab and you can feel that pressure change in my head/ears and stays consistent even with the truck in neutral and coasting downhill at 55+MPH. Cracking the drivers side window barely makes any difference.
My bug shield is also cracked into two pieces. Going to remove that tomorrow so what should I check while doing this work?
My thoughts are don't put it in neutral at 55 unless you really hate your transmission and want to buy a new one soon. As for the pressure build up it sounds to me like you are being overly sensitive if opening the window doesn't releive the pressure. Really I'm not trying to be a smart a__ but there realy is no other explaination.
More Info: This morning when leaving the house it is now 8 degree's outside and when hitting 55 the pressure feeling was not near as intense as it was yesterday in sunny warm weather. I am quite stumped.
There was NONE of this feeling when the front end was all wacked out.
WV. Where is that and is that where you are? 8C or 8F? I'm assuming its a medic wagon? With a camper like unit on the back? Is it 4 door? If it is try opening the back window on the passenger side about an inch or so, if its 2 door just crack the passenger side 1/2 inch, open the pop out window extended cab. Also is it slider rear window? If its open close it. Just try some different combinations to see if there is any difference.

WV=West Virginia, United States
8F degree's
My personal truck not ambulance
No Camper Unit
Extended cab with little doors not full size 4 doors
No slider rear window
I have tried the experiment with the drivers side rear window popped out but not the passenger.
As soon as some the sun comes out a tad bit more I am going to remove the broken bug shield to eliminate that.
Also this morning I noticed that when this starts (at 55mph) there is a just a little bit of shutter left in the steering wheel after having the front end work done, I am wondering about a tire problem and the wobbly wobbly of a tire at such fast speeds makes what I interpret to be a "pressure" feeling.
The tire issue may have been persistent for some time but with such as crapped up front end it couldn't be detected....
I doubt the broken big deflecter has anything to do with it but it probably looks like crap so might as well get rid of it. As for the wobbly wobbly. It could be a tire issue or bad shock or steering stabilizer or even mud ice or snow build-up in the wheels (back side where the brakes are) if you didn't get an alignment done with the front end work that would be a likely place to look as well.
Yes indeed bug shield did look like crap. It has been removed. No snow or mud buildup here and quick visual of the tires didn't reveal any huge bulges or anything like that. I did notice that there is a wheel weight on the outside portion of the front passenger tire and no wheel weight on the outside of the drivers side front tire at all. I wish I knew if that drivers side ever had one or not...never studied wheel weight placement before.
Look behind the back seat on the back wall for little rectangular vents. There are 2 of them and their purpose is for pressure build up in the cab. Make sure they move freely. Get in the truck open and then close the door and see if the little flaps are moving.
Alright...I will give that a try today and report back. Thanks for that.

Usually a weight related vibration is evident before 55mph but ya that could also be an issue. It should be noted that each wheel is balanced individually so each wheel will require weight in different locations as needed. For example one wheel might take 1.5 oz on the outside plus another .5oz on the inside in a different location. Another wheel may take completely different weight in different locations.
I put the rear seat down and folded down the backrest part of the seat and there is no vent on the left or the right side. Just a thinly piece of carpet type wall covering.
Does this need to be ripped off or should the vent be cut out of this wall backing?

As you requested I did go back outside and double check the new hubs just to make sure I covered that and they were both in the "FREE" setting. The choice was FREE or LOCK as these are NOT ford hubs so FREE is good. Also the dash **** is in 2WD.
But when I was down on my knee's double checking the drivers side hub I say two "teeth" marks on the rubber of the tire and two thin pieces of metal right below the teeth marks where the rubber and rim metal meet. Right under that on the metal of the rim, there is a parallel rub mark.
I have attached three pictures to show what I was trying to type above but not sure how to attach them yet so I will get them posted ASAP. I think someone broke the weight and the tire is not right.
