Help

I have a 2002 f150 supercrew 4x4. Yesterday the fuel pump quit working. Today I went to work to change it out, with the help of a friend. Well we could not get the dang fuel lines unhooked. My buddy has the little tool to open them up , we even went to a parts store that has a loan-a-tool program, but no luck, we could not get the fuel lines unhooked. They would move back and forth a little bit. We even broke a tool trying to get them apart. Does anybody have any tricks or ideas that can help get them apart without wrecking them? Thanks

they should come apart ...with the fuel line tool. Personally I have not had good luck with plastic ones, but better success with the metal ones
admittedly they can be stubborn....soak them with some penetrant spray...let sit for bit.

If you get them to slide that is great...but also try some twisting action too to help loosen the O-rings in there

I don't know if this will help or not. We had trouble with one on a Explorer. It had two different connectors on the fuel filter. The outlet end had the regular one with the garter spring the inlet end had 4 fingers that lock it in. To get the one off with the fingers, put your tool on the line and push the line towards the filter then push the tool into the line without moving the line, then pull the line off of the filter without moving the tool.

We got it figured out. The fuel lines had little locking clips that we released with a screwdriver, then the hose slid right off. The wife is happy, her truck rolls again!
