Searched the forums already for this but I was hoping for some more specific advice.
Have a 94 F150 (5.0) with erratic wipers - will not park, cut off randomly, intermittent setting completely sporadic, same problems repeated over and over on the threads. At first I thought it was the motor as it seems to be making some odd noises when running but after searching around I'm not so sure anymore.
So the question is (before I start arbitrarily replacing things) wouldn't a faulty MFS also affect the turn signals? I ask because they seem to be blinking rather quickly. I haven't had the truck for long so I can't say for certain that they're abnormally fast but they are definitely blinking two to three times faster than they would on my 90 Ranger.
I was thinking about swapping out the MFS first for this reason. Any guidance would be appreciated.
I have. I was going to give that a try earlier this afternoon but then decided I should go ahead and just replace the motor anyway since it's making a sound like a blender eating a fork.
But something tells me that's not going to fix the problem. I was asking about the MFS specifically because my blinkers are also acting odd. That stands to reason - being that both are run through the same switch - that the two problems are connected, yeah?
I had cleaned the contact a bit but after reading the message I went back and gave them a pretty good cleaning with contact cleaner, etc. and was very happy the wipers now work on high, low, intermittent and they park. On mine the wiper is a dash switch and the turn signals are on the steering column so we have a different set up. I hope you work it out.
