Wiper Problems

Hi; I am new to this forum. I am FireTopDog. I have a 2003 F250 Crew Cab Long box FX4.
I am having problems with my wipers. When I turn them on, they will operate in the delayed mode but won't work when I turn them on to the first constant speed. They operate just fine when I switch to the fast speed. Can anyone help me trouble shoot this problem.
Thanks.

sounds to me like the switch. I really can't remember ever having a problem with my wipers.

Mine stayed on and wouldn't shut off until I pulled the fuse at one point. They replaced the wiper motor and all was good... It does sound like your switch though.

Welcome to FTE !

I have had problems like this, my wipers would only work while the lever was on high beam! OK during the day, but at night people in front of me didn't see any humor in me firing up the beams to make my wipers work! It started with just the washers, then int. wipers, then eventually slow and fast speed.

Replacing the turn/wiper/washer/high beam stalk and switch solved the problem. I don't remember the exact cost but I remember I was pleased with the price.

$70 at Oreillys for Motorcraft part. Super easy to install.

I did talk to the ford folks but as usual, they want to see it and charge a arm and leg just to tell me I have a problem. Then the fun begins with repair costs.

Did you replace the turn signal switch yourself? If you did, how difficult was it?

As I recall, you just drop the bottom cover on the column, take off a few screws and replace the switch assembly. I do not recall even swearing.

As Aggie said, super easy.

Ford calls that the multi function switch at my work we have changed them in the older 97 pickups and crown vicks squads Ford Cost $70.00 aftermarket for those has been around $50.00 They look the same as my SD but have not changed one on that yet. Most are not real hard to change.
